Inkster may soon be able to claim the new Miss Jr. Teen Detroit winner if Vonna Wilkins’ wishes come true.

Wilkins will compete Sunday with other young women vying for the title. She will display her poise in modeling routines which include both casual and formal wear and face a panel of judges for a personal interview and questions.

“Personality is the number one aspect that each contestant is judged on during all phases of competition,” a spokesman for the pageant said.

If Wilkins is selected as Miss Jr. Teen Detroit, she will represent the area at the Cities of America National Competition that will take place in Orlando, FLA. During that national competition, more than $60,000 in prizes and awards will be presented during the all-expense paid five-night and six-day trip.

There is no cost to Wilkins for her participation. Businesses, organizations and private individuals sponsor contestants from each area. Those sponsorship fees fund all the necessary training, rehearsals and financial support for contestants.

Wilkins is being sponsored in her effort by Tonya Liggens, Frankie Hunter, Patricia Eady, Greg Johnson, Worthy Marine, A & W. Transport, Curves, Jaba Beauty Supply and Styles Unlimited Salon.
