Belleville police plan Operation ID

The Belleville Police Department has teamed up with Anheisher Busch to supply Operation ID kits for area businesses.

As part of the “We ID” program, about 30 Belleville businesses will receive the kits to discourage minors from purchasing alcohol. Each kit contains valuable equipment to assist businesses in checking identification.

According to the Partnership for a Drug-Free America, all measures of teen alcohol use were significantly decreased since 1998 because of the program.

The program will be ongoing, according to Belleville Police Chief Gene Taylor.

For more information or to receive “We ID” materials to help get the message out, contact William Ventola, coordinator of consumer affairs and education, at (734) 946-6200.
