Canton authors to gather Wednesday

Renee White
Staff Writer

Have you ever dreamt of writing a book?

Do you have hundreds of novel ideas floating around your head? Or maybe you have written something, but don’t know the next step to take. Here’s your chance to get all of your questions answered.

Local authors will speak to the public about writing and publishing books during the Celebrate Canton’s Authors event at the Canton Public Library at 7 p.m. on May 16.

Eight authors will participate: poet Cheryl Martin; Kim Crouch; who wrote a nonfiction book about mother-son relationships; Canton historian Gerald Van Dusen; historical fiction writer Virginia Bailey Parker; Robert Guttersohn, an Iraq veteran who wrote a military fantasy novel; erotic romance novelist Tawny Taylor; writer and publisher Sabrina Adams and children’s author Catherine Marek.

“We have a nice mix [of authors],” said Marcia Barker, who is coordinating the program. “We have everything from children’s to historical fiction to sci fi to erotic romance. All are very happy to come.”

She said she thinks the event will be “very casual but very interesting.”

Each author will speak for about five minutes at the start of the program, then head to respective tables to talk to people one on one. Authors will also have the opportunity to sell their books at the event.

To register for the Celebrate Canton’s Authors event, call the library at (734) 397-0999.
