Police said A 19-year-old Canton man discovered the body of David John Owen, of Taylor, at about 6:30 p.m. while on a bike ride near Lotz, south of Michigan Avenue.

The man noticed an unusual odor and found the body 20 feet into the woods, according to police. Police said the witness returned to his home and told his father what he had seen. The father then went to the scene and also saw the body. The father then called police.

The body was “badly decomposed,” according to a press release from the police department. The Wayne County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine time and cause of death.
