Lace up the gloves, boxing fans, and get ready.

Hall of Fame boxing trainer and manager Emanuel Steward and his famous Kronk Gym is bringing an ultimate night of boxing to Plymouth next month.

Steward, in association with Second Round, Inc and promoter Sylvia Steward will bring “Kronk’s New Stars,” an event that showcases some of the best fighters today and introduce some young up-and-coming stars to the Compuware Arena in Plymouth Township on Nov. 15.

Steward said he wanted to move the event away from the crazy big-city, downtown atmosphere to a place where the fans are still hungry for boxing.

“No one is truly excited about having fights in downtown Detroit anymore,” he said. “Outlying areas are more excited and more supportive right now and have been more cooperative than places like Joe Lewis Arena. We thought that Compuware was just a great place to have the event and we wanted to do it at a place that we never have before.”

He also said that Peter Karmanos Jr., who owns Compuware Arena and is the CEO of Compuware, is a huge fan of the sport.

“Mr. Karmanos is very supportive of the event,” Steward said. “He’s at every fight and he’s very excited to have it at his arena—he’s our most excited fan we have in Detroit.”

Headlining the ticket is Detroiter Johnathan Banks. He brings a hefty punch that has earned him a 17-0 record (13 knockouts) and the NABO Cruiserweight Champion of the World title. He is also the No. 3 contender in the WBA/WBO World Rating. He will have his gloves full when he defends his NABO title against New Yorker Derrick Brown (13-3-3).

Also on the card is one of the most talked about boxing prospects in the world, Andy Lee, who hails all the way from Belfast, Ireland. Lee checks into Compuware Arena with a 12-0 record (nine knockouts). He touches gloves against Brad Austin (8-3) of John City, TN.

Nov. will also highlight the highly anticipated comeback of one of the area’s top fighters, Octavio Lara.

Amateur boxers Erik Deleon, Leandre White, Ghieth Mohammad, J’Leon Love and Jason Citron will hit the ring prior to the main event.

The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tickets range from $12 to $125 and are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, Ticket-master.com and Compuware Arena box office or can be charged by phone at (248)-645-6666.
