Matinee series under way at Penn Theater
The Penn Theater in downtown Plymouth is featuring summer matinee and evening performances of some well-known films at 1 and 7 p.m. for a $3 admission fee.
On Aug. 20, the movie will be the Apple Dumpling Gang and on Aug. 27, the final film in the series will be The Muppets Take Manhattan.
The series is being sponsored by the Packaging Corp. of America, Plymouth District Library, Michigan Made & More and Community Financial CreditUnion.

Doggone party planned
Various dog-related businesses will be displaying their wares during the fifth anniversary celebration planned at Happy Hounds Dog Day Care from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Aug. 16.
There will party food for humans and dogs are invited but must be leashed during the event. There will be splash pools for the canine guests.

Charities being sought
Charities are being sought to participate in fundraising poker tournaments at the new Casino 25 gaming room located above E.G. Nick’s restaurant.
The charity and the game room split the gross revenue from the event 50-50 and the organizers pay the expenses.

Society sets craft show
The Delta Kappa Gamma Education Society will host a Handmade Only Craft Show from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Oct. 17 at West Middle School in Plymouth.
