Down to business

The Belleville Tigers got down to business in the late game at Romulus on Tuesday.

They balanced the checkbook when they deposited a 61-51 victory over Wayne.

When trying to equate Bellelville with outside shooting it usually doesn’t add up. However, the Tigers broke the bank in this one. They were 23 of 47 from the field and, as a team, drained 10 triples. Sophomre Booker Stoudmire hit four of them—in the first half. He led the team with 14.

On the other end, a young Wayne team struggled to make ends meet. Junior Mike Lee had a stand out performance, racking up 25 points to top all scorers.

And don’t let the final score fool you. Belleville led by as many as 17 in the tussle before slowing things down in the fourth.

The Tigers have to gear up for round three with the Romulus Eagles on Thursday. The two rivals split their regular season meetings. Romulus won the last bout last Tuesday.

This Tuesday’s Belleville team, however, looked unlike any—and there have been several—I’ve seen this season. The question here is is: Do Tigers hunt Eagles? We’ll see at 7:30 pm on Thursday.
