From the Cheap Seats

Buckley's day

Your team is down by one point with 4.8 seconds left on the clock. You drive the length of the court and are fouled on a layup as time expires. You stand alone at the free-throw line with hundreds of glaring eyes resting on you. One ties it, two wins it. Miss them both and, well, don’t even think about that. No pressure.

What do you do?

If you’re Dominique Buckley you drain both for the victory.

The junior point guard, who has already verbally committed to Iowa State University, was hailed a hero on Thursday night when his two free throws earned the Eagles a 66-65 victory over visiting Belleville. The ending was one of Hollywood proportions. He might as well paint a red “S” on his chest and fly off into the sunset, because it doesn’t get any better that.

The district semifinal contest was without a doubt the best high school basketball game ever witnessed “From the Cheap Seats.” Anything else this season has to offer—at any level—will pale in comparison. It was that good.

What I want to know is: When is Romulus instituting Dominique Buckley day?
