Welcome to the Journal Newspapers blog for the Plymouth International Ice Sculpture Spectacular. For the next three days we hope to treat you to all the festival, now in its 25th year, has to offer. We’ll post back with photos and daily accounts of the fun. Feel free to tell us what you think by clicking on “Comments” at the end of a post.
A few weeks ago, it looked like we’d get a repeat of last year’s fest, which saw much warmer than normal temperatures. The weather in 2006 had it’s pros and cons: the sculptures dripped away in record time, but it was more comfortable for the crowds that turned up.
No such luck this year. The high will be about 30 tomorrow, and mid-20’s for the weekend. The wind won’t be much help, either. Ice Fest only comes once a year though, and the cold temps are just all the more reason to stop into the many fine shops nearby!
Below you’ll find a sampling of features from a special insert from this week’s Plymouth Journal. While you’re in town, don’t forget to pick up a souvenir copy.
We’ve also posted helpful maps and a schedule of events.
Hope to see you downtown, and stay warm!
