Carol Ellis of Inkster was the lucky grand-prize winner of $1 million last week in the new Michigan Lottery game show.

Carol Ellis of Inkster won’t soon forget last Friday night.

Not only did she make her television debut, along with the new Make Me Rich! show sponsored by the Michigan Lottery, but she walked off the WDIV set $1 million richer.

Ellis was the grand prize winner in the $1 million sweepstakes second-chance game. Ellis, along with three other finalists, earned the right to appear on the show after winning a $10,000 second-chance prize on the lottery player website, www.playercity.net.

Other contestants won $5,000 appearance fees, trips to Mackinac Island Grand Hotel, a 2010 Ford Mustang GT and one lucky man from Muskegon left with $2 million.

“Our inaugural show was a complete success and could not have happened without a great group of contestants and our dynamic host Christopher Knight,” Lottery Commissioner M. Scott Bowen said. “Congratulations to all the grand prize winners and we look forward to producing more shows like this in the future.”

The show was created by Jonathan Goodson Productions of Hollywood. Make Me Rich! will air new shows quarterly with a variety of prizes. The next show is set for winter of 2010.

Ellis could not be reached for comment.
