Novi couple killed in accident

A Novi couple was killed in a head-on collision with a semi truck early Saturday morning in Inkster.

Brian Keller, 44, and his wife, Jody, 30, were traveling southbound on Inkster Road near Beech Street in their Plymouth minivan at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday when the front of their vehicle struck the front of the semi truck, which was headed northbound on the same thoroughfare, according to Det. Colleen Kurth of the Inkster Police Department.

“The couple died at the scene as a result of their injuries,” said Kurth.

Inkster Rescue arrived on the scene minutes after the collision to render medical support to the Kellers, but paramedics were unable to save the couple.

The pair was taken to the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s office, and toxicology tests will be performed, Kurth said.

Police investigating the accident do not know where the Kellers were going when the accident occurred, Kurth said.

After the accident, a Michigan State Police accident reconstruction team re-created the accident. The indicators so far show that the couple crossed the centerline on Inkster Road, and collided with the semi, Kurth said.

The driver of the semi truck was not hurt in the accident, police said.
