Still ’Marvelous’
Wayne County Commissioner Joan Gebhardt surprised her commission colleagues and the audience last week—when the commission met at Westland City Hall—with two of the original Marvelletes, Juanita Cowart Motley and Katherine Anderson Schaffner. The singers lead the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. They brought their gold records, “Please Mr. Postman” and “Don’t Mess with Bill.” They received a resolution from the commission.
