Digital storytime set
Teens can register now for a Digital Storytelling series at the Leanna Hicks Library in Inkster.
The series will take place through July 17 and guide participants through the steps of creating a digital story including writing a script, podcasting, photography basics, music and the completion of a story. The final products will be on display during the library open house Aug. 8.

Police volunteers sought
Senior volunteers are needed at the Inkster Police Auxiliary.
Volunteers who can dedicate 4-6 hours Monday through Friday to answer phones and do some light clerical work are needed at the offices at 710 Middlebelt Road.

Court provides help for seniors
Help for senior citizens with grass cutting and yard clean up is available through Judge Sylvia James and the 22nd District Court.

Teen book club planned
The Leanna Hicks Public Library is offering a book club for young people ages 10-14.
The club will meet from 4-5 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month beginning July 8.
This month, the club members will be talking about The Bad Beginning: A Series of Unfortunate Events, by Lemony Snicket and Brett Helquist.

Enhanced Fitness Classes offered
Enhanced fitness classes take place from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Dozier Recreation Complex.
Seniors are urged to join the classes, sponsored by the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan.

The Inkster Summer Jazzfest Committee is seeking volunteers to help with the event this year.
Volunteer workers are needed in numerous capacities for the July 11-12 festival.

Senior Olympics athletes sought
Inkster residents can pick up the Western Wayne County Senior Olympics registration package at city hall, the Dozier Recreation Center or the Senior Services office at Twin Towers.
The event is scheduled for Aug. 17-21 this year and will include numerous categories and competitions. Opening Day festivities include the opening ceremony, breakfast with Wayne County Executive Bob Ficano. Registration deadline is July 27.
