Coat drive is under way
Women with a Purpose is sponsoring a coat drive to benefit Northville Civic Concern families.
New and gently used coats, hats, mittens and scarves can be dropped off in the front lobby of Winchester Elementary School from Nov. 2-6.

Students packing meals
From 5:30 until 8 p.m. Nov. 7, students from throughout Northville will host a Soup Supper to aid the Kids Against Hunger project at Northville High School.
The soup and bread have been donated by various local merchants to aid the cause which last year packed more than 325,000 meals for the hungry.
Mountain Heart, a high-energy bluegrass band will entertain at a concert following the supper and will have a surprise opening act.
Supper tickets are $10 per person, and $5 for children 6-12. Family tickets are $30 for four or more. There is an additional $20 charge per person for the Mountain Heart concert.
Advance ticket purchase is strongly recommended as soup and seating are limited. Only 1000 concert tickets are available.

Geneaologists to meet
Northville Genealogical Society members will meet for a roundtable discussion of obituaries, funeral homes and cemeteries at 1:15 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Northville District Library.
Carolyn Griffin, a professional genealogist, will present a program on tracing femal lines at 2:30 the same day.
The meetings and programs are free and open to the public. Society members also offer research help at the library from 1-3 p.m. Monday afternoons.

Actors workshop offered
Gordon Michaels, a professional actor, writer and producer, will lead a two-day actors workshop concentrating on television and film at Genitti’s Little Theater in Northville on Nov. 14 and 15.
Class fee is $100 and actors of all ages, skill level and experience are welcome. Michaels will coach participants on auditioning and acting techniques.

Holiday play presented
Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some) will be presented at the Tipping Point Theatre from Nov. 5 through Dec. 20.
Three quick-witted actors will portray as many holiday traditions and stories as they can remember, all in 90 minutes.
The comedy is fun for the entire family. Tickets are $25 and $27, depending on the day and time of the show. Curtain is at 8 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, there are 3 p.m. matinees on Saturday and 2 p.m. matinees on Sundays, depending on the show.

Children’s Christmas Workshop is planned
Children in grades one through six can register to participate in the gift workshop to created seven old-fashioned gifts for the people on their Christmas list.
Sessions are planned at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and last about two hours. The enrollment fee is $15 per child, payable to the Northville Historical Society, which sponsors and organizes the event.
Participants must pre-register at 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. Nov. 6 at 218 W. Dunlap.
The workshop will take place at Mill Race Village.

Rotary members to join Make A Difference Day
Plymouth Rotary Club members are asked to sign up and donate an hour of work the morning of Nov. 7 during Make a Difference Day, a United Way effort.
Members will help needy, elderly and handicapped citizens with household chores and repairs they are unable to perform.
Club members will be assigned tasks at their individual comfort levels.
Shifts are 60-90 minutes and the aid of teen club members is also sought.
The teams will meet at the Plymouth Salvation Army building at 8 a.m. for assignments.
