All American Season

Tipping Point shows slated

Tipping Point Theatre in Northville will feature a full season of entertainment beginning in September.

Billed as the All American Season, Producing Artistic Director James R. Kuhl said the theater would be, “presenting stories written by Americans about Americans that connect us and celebrate our rich theatrical history.”

Scheduled for Sept. 2 through Oct. 16 is Neil Simon’s smash hit, The Last of the Red Hot Lovers.

Wiley and the Hairy Man, a family show, is planned for Oct. 23, 24, 30 and 31. The show is from an old south folktale and is appropriate for children 5 and older.

An ice fishing musical, Guys on Ice, will take to the Tipping Point stage Nov. 18 through Jan. 15, 2011. This is a musical comedy about ice-fishing buddies from Wisconsin. There will be a special New Years Eve party and performance on Dec. 31, 2010.

Proof, the 2001 Pultizer Prize and Tony winner, will be presented from Feb. 3 through March 5. The loyalty and devotion of fathers and daughters and the necessity of faith are the award-winning topics.

The Cocktail Hour, a dark comedy of family secrets, will be the offering for March 24 through April 30.

Sisterhood is at the core of Crimes of the Heart, a dark, 1981 Pulitzer Prize and New York Drama Critics award winner that will be presented from May 19 through June 25.

Kuhl said that this 2010-1011 season “exemplifies how valuable the arts are in our everyday lives,” and urged theater lovers to make a tax-free donation to the Tipping Point. “No donation is too small, so please give what you can and know that it is vital to the endurance of the arts in our community and to the survival of Tipping Point Theatre,” he said. “Plus, there are great benefits to being a member, including being first in line to order tickets for all our shows.”

Tickets are $28 for the 8 p.m. Thursday shows and $30 for the 8 p.m. shows on Fridays and Saturdays.

Tickets for the 3 p.m. Saturday shows are $28, as are the tickets for the 2 p.m. Sunday matinee performances.

Tipping Point offers season tickets at a discount and group reservations. Senior citizens 62 and older receive a $2 discount on each admission.
