Ken Roth to head up school board

Ken Roth is moving up in the world.

The former vice-president of the Northville Board of Education was unanimously elected Tuesday night as president for the coming year.

The board elected their officers at their regular organizational meeting.

It is the first time that Roth, who was recently elected to his second term on the board, will serve as board president.

He said that during the upcoming school year, he believes that his primary function will be to lead the board as it attempts to tackle the ongoing capacity and financial issues while still maintaining the curriculum standards Northville expects.

Roth added that he believes that he has a “good understanding of the financial underpinnings of the district” and a “comprehensive knowledge of the issues facing the Northville district” that will be an asset to the board.

Marilyn Price, who acted as board secretary in 2005-2006, was selected to replace Roth as vice president of the board.

Long time board member Joan Wadsworth will take on the responsibilities of board secretary.

Meanwhile, the district will rely on former board trustee Libby Smith for their economic needs as she accepted the duties of board treasurer.
