ANDERSON, Doris, age 85, died October 20, 2007. She was born July 12, 1922. Doris is survived by a son, Barney Earl Anderson; a sister, Mae Will Arrington; a brother-in-law, Jodie Arrington of Columbus, GA; a brother, Samuel Carter of Columbus, GA.; seven nieces, Cynthia Thompson (Richard) of Lima, OH, Judith Carter of Tucson, AZ, Margariette Stephens of Detroit, MI, four of her nieces who cared for her during her illness, Brenda Howard (Andrew) and Olinda Robinson (James) of Inkster, MI and Sarah Tolbert (Johnny) and Olivia Davis of Detroit, MI. She also has many other nieces , nephews, relatives and friends who mourn her passing. Cremation rites were accorded. Final arrangements were entrusted to Penn Funeral Home, Inkster, MI.
CROTON, JoAnn M. of Kensington, MD, formerly of Wayne, MI, died October 26, 2007. Beloved wife of the late Melvin “Mel”, mother of Ilene Lineberry and Sharon Russell, grandmother of Tina (Daniel) Link, Ross Russell and Shannon Russell. She is also survived by 5 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, one sister and her nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wayne, MI., Friday , November 2 at 1:00 pm with instate from 12:00 noon until 1;00 pm. Interment will be at Glenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, National Capital Area, 11240 Waples Mill Road, Suite 402, Fairfax, VA 22030. Final arrangements were entrusted to Harry J. Will Funeral Home.
HOLMES, Jacob, age 93, died October 17, 2007. He was born may 6, 1914. He lived and died in reverence and dignity. He is survived by his nephew Alvin (Betty) Holmes, whose relationship became not “uncle and nephew” but ‘father and son”. If there was a term of endearment, Jacob and Alvin would have their own way of expressing it. Don’t take no wooden nickels. Jacob leaves numerous nieces and nephews across the country, residing in Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina and several states in between. The life long friends that Jacob has had both living and in the hereafter are too numerous to count. Services were held at Penn Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. John E. Duckworth officiating. Interment was at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Superior Twp., MI. Final arrangements were entrusted to Penn Funeral Home, Inkster, MI.
JOHNSON, Viola Lee, age 65, died October 21, 2007. She was born August 13, 1942. She was preceded in death by her parents, Merrill Johnson and Leola Ligons and brothers, Robert (Bobby) and Edward. She will be greatly missed by her children, Anthony (Tony), Tonja and Eric; her grandchildren, LaKeshia, Joseph and Chavez. She also leaves her sister, Shirley (Wade); brothers, John and Charles; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services were held at Penn Funeral Home with Rev. Willie Cooper officiating Cremation rites were accorded. Final arrangements were entrusted to Penn Funeral Home, Inkster, MI.
