Obituaries


AKER, Darlene Virginia, age 49, died December 13, 2007. She was born June 8, 1958. Darlene leaves to cherish her loving memory her husband, Norman Baker; two daughters, Leslie (Wesley) Odams and Lucresha; 2 sons, J-Paul and James (Reshay) Coats; her mother, Betty Whisenant; 4 sisters, Janet Bell, Annette Whisenant, Michelle Franklin and Carol Bell; 1 brother, Robert Bell; seven grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services were held at Pentecostal Temple C. O. G. I. C., Inkster, MI with Bishop Isaac King. Jr. officiating. Interment was at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Ypsilanti, MI. Final arrangements were entrusted to Penn Funeral Home.


BROWN, Krystal G., age 35, died December 17, 2007. She was born May 21, 1972. Krystal leaves to mourn, a loving son, Brandon D. Brown of Romulus, MI; her loving mother, Jewel Hearst of Romulus, MI; three sisters, Janice Williams of Romulus, MI, Rose Williams of Detroit, MI and Belinda Major of Redford, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts and friends; plus very special friends, Mr. And Mrs. Larry Rice and Shawda Powell. Services were held at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, Belleville, MI with Pastor Phillip L. Ferrell officiating. Interment was at Westlawn Cemetery, Inkster, MI. Final arrangements were entrusted to Penn Funeral Home, Inkster, MI.


HUDSON, Annette Louise, age 49, died December 9, 2007. She was born August 28, 1958. She leaves to cherish her memory; son, Dontez Hudson; 2 nieces, Crystal and Ebony Wallace; 5 nephews, Junius Childers, Torrie Bolden, Kardaryl Wallace, Demetrius and James Robinson; great uncle, Waddie (Louise) Dozier; devoted cousins, Louise Lockart and Lucinda (Lulu) Selma; stepfather, Robert Rushing, and a host of family and friends. Services were held at New Birth Baptist Church, Inkster, MI with Rev. Joseph A. Stephens officiating. Cremation rites were accorded. Final arrangements were entrusted to Penn Funeral Home, Inkster, MI.


INGRAM, Celestine D., age 51, died December 15, 2007. She was born February 21, 1956. Celestine leaves to mourn, her husband, Sterlin R. Ingram; her mother, Delores D. Campbell; four children, Albert L. Davis, Celestine Ilori, Mellor L. Ilori and Michael N. Ilori; five grandchildren, four sisters, two brothers and a host of relatives and friends. Services were held at Penn Funeral Home with Rev. Vikki P. Sorrells officiating. Cremation rites were accorded. Final arrangements were entrusted to Penn Funeral Home, Inkster, MI.


LANSING, Eugene H., MD Age 80 of Westland. Died peacefully at home January 7, 2008. Born September 17, 1927 to the late Albert & Anna in Mason City, Iowa. Graduated from St. Joseph High School, Mason City, IA in 1945. Enlisted in the US Navy in June of 1945 and was stationed in Pearl Harbor, with an honorable discharge in 1946. Graduated from Loras College, Dubuque, IA in 1950. Married Kathryn Helvick August 30, 1952. Graduated from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in 1955. Surgical residency from 1955 – 1960 at Wayne County General Hospital, Eloise, MI. Practiced medicine at Annapolis Hospital from 1960 – 1989. Former Chief of Staff. Retired in 1989. Beloved husband & caregiver to Kathryn. Loving father of Jon (Bonnie), Angeli (Brian) Lally & Jeffrey (Gwenn). Dear brother of Mark (Linda) & Joanie (Jim) Jackson. WYMAN, Janet (Jan), 75, of Longmont, Colorado passed away December 27, 2007 at Applewood Living Center. She was born April 25, 1932 in Massachusetts to Ann Rogers. Ann later married Tom Conlin, who adopted Janet as his daughter at the age of three. Tom had two children from a previous marriage. He and Ann had two more children together following Janet.

Janet left home as a teenager and was later taken in by Arnold and Jean Whittaker of Stratham, New Hampshire. Arnold and Jean had four children, Lynn, Lee, Robert and Larry. She married John Wyman of Royal Oak, Michigan on November 21, 1953. They would eventually settle close to John’s parents in Belleville, Michigan. They had 3 children together, Robert (1957), John (1959), and Ty (1964). John and Janet divorced in 1977.
She never remarried.

Jan worked for several years as an ordinance officer for Van Buren Township (Belleville), Michigan. She became disabled in 1981 as the result of a car accident in which she suffered a severe closed head injury. She moved from Belleville to Longmont, Colorado in 1992 to be closer to her son, Robert. Jan was an outspoken as a member of the Belleville community, and many times wrote letters to the editor of the local paper. She successfully managed several political campaigns for local officials. She loved to write and took to writing novels in her later years.

She was preceded in death by her parents (Tom and Ann). The status of her siblings is unknown. Survivors include three sons, Robert and his wife, Jolin of Longmont, John and his wife, Melinda (Mindy) of Napa, California; and Ty and his wife Melissa of Portland, Oregon; and six grandchildren, Caitlin and Kirk, Dustin and Grayson, Lucy and Teddy. Also surviving are Jean Whittaker of Yarmouth, Maine, and her children, Lynn, Lee, Robert, and Larry.
