Obituaries


ALLEN, Richard Courtney, age 70, died January 10, 2008. He was born June 9, 1937. He leaves to cherish his memory, three sisters, Zada Holloway and Ada Bland of San Diego, CA, and Rugena kent of Detroit, MI; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and two very special friends, Charles and Helen Givens. Services were held at Penn Funeral Home with Elder James Miller officiating. Cremation rites were accorded. Final arrangements were entrusted to Penn Funeral Home, Inkster, MI.


ANDREWS, Henry Sr., age 88, died December 18, 2007. He was born March 16, 1919. He leaves to mourn his passing, his partner and loving wife of 59 years, Loraine Simmons Andrews; his sister, Mary Helen Campbell; children, Cornell (Dorothy), Henry Jr. (Charletta), Brenda, Gloria and Vernestia; 3 grandchildren who he raised as his own, Tish (Michael), Jim and LaGayle (Eric); sister-in-law, Lillie Brown and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. Services were held at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church, Detroit, MI with Rev. Wallace Bell officiating. Interment was at Mount Hope Memorial Gardens, Livonia, MI. Final arrangements were entrusted to Penn Funeral Home, Inkster, MI.


HISTER, Amor Lee Jr., age 25, died January 9, 2008. He was born February 2, 1982. He leaves to cherish his memories, two sons, Amor Hister III and Lamor Hister; his parents, Amor and Lera Hister; sisters, LaTrece Hister and Lydia Hister; brother, Andrew P. Hister; nephew, Malik; niece, Malya; seragant brother, Steven Shaw; special friend Shanell, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Services were held at New Hope Baptist Church with Dr. Ned Hargress officiating. Interment was at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton, MI. Final arrangements were entrusted to Penn Funeral Home, Inkster, MI.


JACKSON, Raymond Charles, age 54, died January 6, 2008. He was born February 20, 1953. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 27 years, Sharon; daughters, Shelva, Anita (Charles) Craig and Crystal; son Raymond; devoted mother, Ruth Jackson; brother, Robert (Deborah) Jackson of Detroit, MI; sisters, Revella (Kenneth) Pugh of Raleigh, NC, Regina Jackson of Detroit, MI and Rita (Christopher) Hayes of Southfield, MI; father-in-law, Leonard Curry; grandchildren, Anthony, Rheba and Sa’Mya; aunts, Inez Bramley, Callie (Harvey) Epperson, Anna Jackson and Essie Cooper, all of Nashville, TN; favorite cousin, Henry Dale Jackson of Cleveland, OH; special friend, Jerome King; special mother, Dr. Virginia Taylor; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Services were held at Pentecostal Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Arthur C. Willis Sr. officiating. Interment was at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI. Final arrangements were entrusted to Penn Funeral Home, Inkster, MI.


JONES, Elijah, age 77, died January 16, 2008. He was born December 1, 1930. Elijah was preceded in death by his father, Quincy; mother, Clantha; and brother, LH. He leaves to carry on his legacy of love, life and service to the Lord, his wife of 53 years, Inez; their children, Crystal (Maurice), Bernadette, Gerald, Angela (Lawrence) and Todd; grandchildren, Farrah (Gary), Quina, Coree and Stefan; great grandchildren, Jaden “Champ” and Madison “Big Girl”; brothers and sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. We will sorely miss hearing those sweet melodies, but we know you’re singing up there. We Love You. Services were held at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, Inkster, MI with Rev. Oscar R. Carter, Sr. officiating. Interment was at Mt. Hope Memorial Park, Livonia, MI. Final arrangements were entrusted to Penn Funeral Home.


JONES, Raymond Edward, age 39, died January 13, 2008. He was born April 24, 1968. He leaves to cherish his memory and mourn his passing, his loving mother, Zenobia Jones-McIntosh; step-father, Ulysees McIntosh; children, Likita Simone, Taymond Edward II and Quincey Lamar; sister, Ms. Cheryl Renee; nieces, Leticia Roshea, Tiffany Nicole and Chante’ Tiera; and a host of cousins, close family members and friends. Services were held at Penn Funeral Home with Minister Sandra Wasson officiating. Interment was at United Memorial Gardens, Plymouth, MI. Final arrangements were entrusted to Penn Funeral Home, Inkster, MI.
