Enough is enough; vote Yes on Recall
To the editor:
We have been following this sad story of leadership in Van Buren Township since November 2008.
We have attended and watched the board meetings, both in person and on cable. We have checked out the recall website and the website supporting the four officials subject to recall. We have read the many stories in the various newspapers. We have talked to many people about the actions, decisions, and opinions of residents of our community.
Van Buren Township truly is a wonderful community, despite our differences.
It can be very difficult to know what the truth is. Both sides are pushing their agendas and arguing passionately that they are in the right. The truth lies somewhere in the middle.
Despite all of that, what we know as fact is that our community is fractured. The economy is affecting our community at its core and the important adjustments that we, as a community of caring people, need to make are not being accomplished. It is going to take creative people to manage significant change that will allow our community to sustain the current severe recession. These significant changes must be made urgently or we will not weather the storm and come out thriving in spirit and strength. Sometimes we have to cut our losses and move on to better management and leadership.
While we may never know all about the situation leading to the current recall, we do know when it’s time to say ‘enough is enough.’
Folks, that time is now for me; On February 23, we’ll be voting ‘yes’ to the recall of all four officials: Denise Partridge, Al Ostrowski, Leon Wright, and Paul White.
We sincerely hope that those who replace them will foresee the next steps our community must make and be willing to step up to the plate to not only heal our community but create a vision of survival.
Enough is enough,
