Response prompts rebuttal

To the editor:

I am responding to Councilman Mulholland’s response of my letter from July 8th. Here is Mulholland once again spinning the story. I spoke with another councilperson and a member of the administration, and they were shocked at his asking for Mr. Nicholson’s books. If Mulholland’s intention was to help him find ways to turn a profit, why didn’t he say so at the meeting? My belief is that after looking back at his comments, Mulholland realized he made a huge mistake and is now trying to cover it up by spinning things around.

As for council being anti-business and pro fee, all you have to do is look back at last Tuesday’s council meeting where council is looking at a new way to limit entertainment in the city. A business owner wants to have a comedy club in town, but council’s proposal will not allow more than 12 shows a year. It’s a comedy club! Look at how many of them exist in the region! Is this group that out of touch with reality?

Remember, November. 2011, vote out all of the anti-business pro fee incumbents, especially Mulholland.

CH:

If Mr. Maholland recalls, the city forced Mr. Nicholson to pay for a million dollar city insurance policy that totaled $20Kover the first two years he brought the cruise through Wayne on a state road. How many tee shirts and hats would he have to sell to cover that kind of overhead? You do not need to be an advisor to small businesses and franchises to know it was unsustainable. Not to mention, was it legal for the city to order him to do that? I could think of a lot of terms to describe that action. This year, Don brought the cruise through Wayne again bt he was the only one forced to pay the special event permit of $200. Not the bars, restaurants, or vendors selling their wares from out of town. Bottom line: the city does not want anyone to plan something the city is not in favor of. Nor can you make a profit without paying your fair share to the city. When did the city become the property of council and mayor? Power corrupts but absolute power corrupts absolutely.
