Van Buren vote a lesson for everyone

Let this be a lesson to us all.

The Van Buren township saga has caused an embarrassment for our community. Our elected officials have demonstrated their lack of judgment, lack of character, and lack of service to Van Buren Township. And the leader of the chaos is Supervisor Paul White.

So how in the world did he get elected? Mr. White likes to think that the people “spoke” and wanted CHANGE at VBT Hall. Let’s face it, the polling lines were long on election day, and people were focused on the historic candidacy of Barack Obama.

However, the truth is that over 4,700 votes for White came from people who voted straight democratic ticket. If voters had taken the time to do research Paul White, they would have found that he is a retired butcher from Kroger, with a high school education, who’s only management experience was organizing a fishing tournament.

I hardly think if voters had taken the time to research Mr. White, Leon Wright, Al Ostrowski and Denise Partridge they would have punched the straight ticket at the polls.

Let this be a lesson to us all…..it may be more important to do your homework on your local candidates than for President of the United States, as the local officials have a greater impact on your day to day life than the president does.
