Plymouth Author Jane Saylor hopes to provide a variety of services at her Grand Scheme Enrichment Center in Plymouth.

Jane Saylor doesn’t claim to have all the answers. She just wants people to follow her grand scheme to success.

On Jan 15 Saylor, the author of The Road You’ve Traveled, will open Grand Scheme Enrichment Center—a venue to hold classes, workshops, and seminars geared toward improving lives and expanding personal creativity.

Saylor got the idea for the center after a family member invited her to attend a life coach training seminar last summer.

“My cousin has always told me life coaching is what I do,” said Saylor who flew down to Houston for the weeklong training in life coaching. The seminar convinced her.

“After spending a week in Houston and seeing the process of life coaching, I know exactly what my cousin was talking about, said Saylor. “This is what I do.”

Saylor said life coaching is not about judgment or what she thinks people should do. Saylor wants to apply the format and structure she uses to instruct writers to assist people in reaching their dreams.

“It’s about figuring out what works best for you,” said the 44-year old Plymouth resident who has traveled throughout Wayne, Oakland and Washtenaw counties to teach people how to write about their lives. Now, she plans to coach people on how to reach their life goals.

“We want people to move toward being what you want to be,” said Saylor. “If it’s really what you want, we can form a plan.”

Saylor, who always had an interest on how people think, attributes her experiences with her children and her classmates as inspiration for Grand Scheme. She said it is very difficult for schools to fit in basic life skills training in a day packed with math, science and history. Saylor plans to use the center as a venue for young people to learn how to balance a checkbook or to start their own business.

She also hopes to bridge the generation gap by creating Senior to Senior forums where local high school seniors will have an opportunity to query senior citizens, and learn from each other.

Saylor also wants Grand Scheme to be known as an artist gallery. Saylor plans to feature work from “underground” painters and sculptors to give them exposure. The center will also feature a retail shop featuring inspirational items.

“We will have books, motivational tapes, coffee, teas and lotions,” said Saylor. “It’s all about making people feel good,” she said. The center will also host poetry nights and other community meetings.
As for those who attended Saylor’s writing classes, don’t worry. The journaling classes will be available at Grand Scheme for both seniors and youth.

“Writing will always be a part of my life,” said Saylor.

An open house is planned from Jan 15-19 at Grand Scheme Enrichment Center, 238 S. Main St. in Plymouth. For more information, email
