Detective Ryan Krebs, of the Plymouth Township Police Department, holds one of the stones that crashed through the windows of a home in the west end of Plymouth Township during the holidays. The attack caused thousands of dollars in damage and terrorized

At 1:10 a.m. on Dec. 23, several rocks weighing more than 2 pounds each crashed through the kitchen and living room windows of a home on Maple Valley in Plymouth Township.

There were more than 15 people inside the home. According to the owner, the rocks came within inches of striking two small children in the kitchen.

“In a flash, rocks were flying everywhere,” said the homeowner, who did not want to reveal his name. He said no one was injured in the incident, but everyone in the house was frightened.

“Someone could have been hurt or killed. This needs to be taken very seriously,” he said.

Attacks on the victim’s home and property are nothing new for the Plymouth business owner, husband and father. Last May, several windows and glass doors were broken and vulgar words and images were spray-painted on the garage doors.

When he returned from a family vacation in August, he discovered his teenage daughter’s car left in shambles after someone broke the windows and damaged the body. He was forced to demolish the vehicle.

The homeowner was reluctant to go public with his family’s plight, but after the latest rock-throwing incident, he said he’s desperate for a resolution.

“I don’t know why this is happening to us,” he said. He’s offered to pay $1,500 to anyone who comes forward with information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. The award is not associated with the Plymouth Township Police Department, but detectives said they would be grateful for the help.

Det. Ryan Krebs of the Plymouth Township Police Department said he suspects more than one perpetrator and believes as many as four may be involved. Krebs said the individual or group responsible for attacks have committed serious crimes.

“There are several charges they face including malicious destruction of property,” said Krebs, the lead investigator of the case.

Krebs said township police and officials are doing everything possible to bring the attackers to justice. He hopes the plea for public assistance will compel those with knowledge of the situation to come forward.

“Someone knows something,” said Krebs. “This family is being terrorized.”

Even so, the victim said he would not leave the community.

“My business is here, my children go to school here. Our lives are here,” he said. He and his family have lived in Plymouth Township since the turn of the century.

“I’m a U.S citizen, a Plymouth Township resident and a taxpayer,” he added. “This is my home.”

Information about this incident or any vandalism activities in Plymouth Township, should be referred to Krebs at 734-354-3232 or call 911.
