SPECIAL SECTION: BLOGGING ON ICE »

It’ll be a little harder getting around downtown Plymouth this week.

The northbound lane of Main Street in downtown Plymouth is closed until next week as preparations for the 25th Plymouth International Ice Spectacular begin.

Traffic is reduced to one lane between Ann Arbor Trail and Penniman Street. The passing lane is open and available for use within the block.

City officials plan to close Penniman between Main and Union on Thursday or Friday.

The Plymouth International Ice Spectacular starts up on Friday and continues throughout the weekend. More than 100 ice carvings will be erected throughout the downtown and in Kellogg Park, where the competitions will take place on Saturday and Sunday. The event is free.

All lane closures remain in effect through Jan. 22. For more information on the closures or the Ice Fest, go to www.downtownplymouth.com
