The 21st Annual Flower Sale will take place from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. May 23 and from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. May 24.Northville gardeners will take their green thumbs to the streets, when the 21st Annual Flower Sale begins May 23.
The two-day event, hosted by the Northville Central Business Association and the Northville Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Toll Brothers, is a good chance for gardeners to stock up for a season of planting, while non-gardeners can just relax and take in the riot of color.
“It’s such a great event and at the perfect time, right before the long holiday weekend,” Janet Bloom, chamber of commerce events director, said.
“That way you can stock up, and take the whole weekend to dig in the dirt and get your garden looking the way you want it to.”
Set up along Main Street, the event will offer savvy shoppers colorful carts filled with flats of perennials, annuals and garden herbs. The sale will also offer exotic trees and shrubs, with resident specialists on site to answer customer concerns.
“This isn’t just an event for filling flower boxes,” Bloom said.
“There will be greenhouse experts on site to answer all your landscaping questions. “What’s great is that you can ask about shade plants, and those which need a little more sun, and get a little more one-on-one to find out what’s a perfect fit for your individual garden. There will also be some garden art on sale, some accent pieces, so that people can not only beautify their outdoors, but their indoors as well.”
Bloom said that the event generally draws big local crowds and that wagons were encouraged for the long haul home.
“This is really such a community event,” Bloom said. “Even if you don’t garden, it’s just great to walk through and see all the color. It’s usually a wonderful turnout, with people stopping by in the morning or after lunch. Of course, we encourage people to bring their wagons because it’s impossible to leave empty-handed. I’ve found that out over the years.”
The 21st Annual Flower Sale will take place from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. May 23, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. May 24.
