A good time for a tour

City, county and state officials frequently talk about how important it is to make things easier for business owners.
I suspect we’ll hear a lot of that kind of rhetoric during the upcoming campaign season, but you don’t have to wait that long to see a good plan in action.
The City of Northville is hosting a ‘Tour the Town’ event from 3-8 p.m. tomorrow. It’s a sort of downtown open house, a cooperative effort between downtown property owners and the Downtown Development Authority (DDA), designed to show prospective business owners the types of retail and office space for lease in the vibrant city.
Landlords will be on hand to answer questions about their properties. Anyone who signs in will receive a Business Investment Guide, a piece of promotional material specific to downtown Northville that contains a wealth of historical information, along with city demographics and lists of the many events that bring potential customers to downtown storefronts.
The “Tour the Town,” is self-guided, so you can meander around the city at your own pace. It’s a good opportunity for anyone to find out the cost of doing business in the city and the benefits it can bring.
