Suddenly, a rush?

Representatives from Meridien Development were hoping their project wouldn’t be postponed at the Northville city council meeting Monday night.
They had to make a decision on the property by March 30 and the council was threatening to postpone their preliminary approval until April 2.
Well, so what?
The reason it’s come this close to the wire is because the developer has been working slowly—albeit diligently—to reduce the size of the project. If they had realized what it would take six months ago, they’d probably be close to putting a shovel into the ground.
Still, any investment in a community is a good one these days
and the council was smart to try to act quickly to accommodate them.
I just hope they don’t act too quickly, and sacrifice quality for expediency.
