Watch out for flying sugar cubes

I’ll tell you what: today was an exceedingly cold day to go out chasing marshmallows.
But came out they did in the City of Wayne: hundreds of residents bundled up like eskimos, braving the near-arctic temperatures.
The Wayne Parks and Recreation Department does a good job with this annual event. It’s about as organized as an event that features hundreds of kids sprinting in a mad dash for some treats can be.
Safety is always the watch word; the police have a strong presence there and none of the eager youngsters is allowed to move beyond the warning track at the Anderson Ball Fields until the helicopter has safely passed and the marshmallows all hit the ground.
That was even more important on a day like today. That’s a tough injury to explain, being beaned by a frozen marshmallow…
