Oh, THAT silly idea....

Democrats in Lansing came up with an interesting defense to the criticism on a proposed plan to give iPods to Michigan students.
They said it was never part of the plan, anyway. Maybe that’s the best thing they could come up with in the light of the vigorous backlash and the revelation that prominent party members took a trip that was in part financed by Apple.
Oops.
I’d like to believe that this was some kind of errant comment taken out of context and then run up the proverbial flagpole, but I can’t. Then I’d have a hard time explaining all the press releases I’ve received from state Democrats that ‘denounce the plan to give iPods to students.’
If this really was just something taken out of context, shouldn’t those releases read somethng like: ‘So-and-so clarifies technology plan?’
Oops again.
Now, Gov. Jennifer Granholm has promoted a new scare tactic. A week or so after she said the potential for state government shut down is real, she says that if some kind of tax increase isn’t approved, school districts could lose up to $100 per pupil. So much for investing in the future. So much for presenting a unified front. Some Democrats want to invest in school technology—sort of—other’s want to take the rug out from under administrators’ feet.
Oops, yet again.
