On the track, or off the track?

Lou LaChance brought up an interesting point this morning at the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) board meeting in Northville.
One of the things the board is looking into is coming up with a new marketing image for the town, something that would highlight all of the work they’re doing and represent something that everyone would recognize.
What about Northville Downs?
LaChance wasn’t advocating a logo based on the racetrack, which has been operating since before Northville was incorporated as a city. He merely pointed out that, for a lot of metro Detroiters, the track and the town are synonymous.
The city has always had an uneasy relationship with the track but, like I said, it’s an interesting point.
While the marketing committee is concentrating on everything that’s happening north of the track, it’d be nice to send some attention to the one facility that’s been in the community longer than any other—even if it is a little off the beaten track.
