It comes as no surprise to me that Wayne County Commissioners make far more than commissioners in Oakland and Macomb County and get far more in the way of perks.
I’ve been saying for years that they’re vastly overpaid for people who, in my experience at least, tend to get elected and disappear.
It is by far the most lucrative part time job around—unless you believe those ‘make $20,000 a month working from home signs’ decorating every freeway exit or entrance ramp.
It’s no wonder that local municipalities are having trouble with funding and that we’re all laboring under the burden of high taxes.
We have to support a bloated, expensive and inefficient county government, too.
