'Twas the night before elections

I’m always grimly fascinated by the results of school board elections. It’s not necessarily who wins and who doesn’t and why—it’s how many people show up to vote.
School elections traditionally bring out few voters, a sad fact given that schools impact everyone in the community and those serving on school boards vote on budgets far exceeding most municipalities.
This year, a strong turnout is projects in the Northville Public School District, where a particularly contentious campaign has taken place in the last few weeks. I think the City of Wayne might draw a lot of people to the polls, too, for Proposal 1, a road millage.
Whether that ‘strong turnout’ relates to a number we can all be proud of remains to be seen. So get out and vote!
