I saw Mark Blackwell and Wayne Councilman Tom Kelly on my way into the polls this morning.
Mark was probably there to tell people not to vote for Proposal 1, the city road millage, while Tom was probably there for the opposite.
I vote at Hoover Elementary School and this morning Henry did the Pledge of Allegiance over the loudspeakers with Kevin, another kindergartner from Ms. Root’s a.m. class.
I was curious to see if the road millage would bring more people out to the polls this time around. It was still early when I cast my ballot—a ‘yes’ vote, for anyone who’s curious—but it didn’t look too busy at precinct six or seven.
I was number eight. Good old eight. I think I was the same number in the last school election, too.
It’s a shame, really, how so few of us cast votes that affect so many.
