It looks like if you average out voter turnout for the school elections throughout western Wayne County, a whopping 10 percent of us showed up at the polls or mailed in an absentee ballot.
The rest of us should be ashamed. There’s no reason not to vote in this day and age; it’s getting easier and easier to do it by mail, the polls are open early and late.
There are people who literally wait hours in line and risk their lives to partake of this simple democratic procedure elsewhere in the world.
We’ll have more on this issue in our papers on Thursday, but for now ponder this: about one in 10 of us makes the decision that impacts the other nine.
It’s a little scary when you think about it….
