A good deal—the second time around, at least

This week I’m writing a ‘story’ about a piece of equipment purchased for the City of Wayne.
It’s a travel trailer—the type hunters and campers drag up north when they don’t want to mess around with traditional camping—purchased in near-mint condition from the federal government.
For $2,700.
It’s a good deal for the city but I’d be a lot happier about it if it weren’t indicative of government waste to begin with. The city got such a good deal on it because it’s surplus equipment—the feds paid probably 10 times as much for each individual trailer. They bought thousands of them, which were never used.
So it might be a good deal for city residents, but we’re still paying twice for it.
There’s your federal government in action….
