Third time a charm?

Today I am reminded of a bit from ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’.
Michael Palin was a landowner desperate to marry off his homely daughter and gain some other ‘huge tracts of land’ and therefore move himself out of Swamp Castle.
“Everyone said I was daft to build a castle in a swamp,” he said. “but I built it anyway.
“It sank into the swamp.”
So did the second one and the third one. The fourth burned down, fell over and then sank into the swamp.
“But the fifth one stood up,” he said triumphantly.
Why am I reminded of this?
Well, our office is located toward the tail end of the Michigan Avenue reconstruction project. As part of the road reconstruction work, contractors have installed a new driveway in front of the building—twice, now.
Yesterday I tromped through the weed-choked and brick-scattered vacant lot next to us to find they had torn up the fresh concrete, again.
Maybe the next one will stay in. Maybe if they didn’t have to keep tearing out driveways, they’d be a little closer to schedule. Here’s hoping…
