A sad reaction from the Wayne Council

I had a response written up to the actions of the Wayne City Council on Tuesday night, but there was no further opportunity for public comment.
Instead, I’ll write it here:
I live around the corner and down the street from Ms. Sherrie Pryor, who spoke so eloquently about our town. I just want to point out what the city council has done in ignoring this simple plea from the Wayne 2020 Committee.
In Sherrie, and people like her, Wayne has what every community would want: a smart, young accomplished professional dedicated to her hometown and willing to donate her time and creative efforts to improve it.
“I just want a downtown where I live that can be everything it can be,” she said Tuesday.
All the council had to do was approve the resolution. The 2020 Committee wasn’t asking the council to do anything else. They weren’t asking for any money. That’s all they wanted: a little nod in their direction.
And the council couldn’t do it.
I think, out of all the municipal meetings I’ve sat through in the last 10 years, that’s the saddest thing I’ve ever seen.
To be continued….
