I’ll be the roundabout…

Representatives from Wal-Mart were at the Canton Planning Commission meeting last night to talk about plans for expanding their store on Ford Road.
Well, this is good news and bad news.
Canton residents—and Westland, too, I suppose since the store is on the border—will have another option for groceries. It’s always nice when a company invests in the community, too.
I’m a little skeptical, though, about the traffic control methods. The plans show a kind of ‘roundabout’ between the Sam’s Club and the Wal-Mart store. I can’t see that working out no matter how slow vehicles are traveling. And getting rid of some of the parking to expand the building doesn’t seem like a good idea, either.
I guess we’ll all see how well it works. Of course, it’ll be the middle of 2009 before everything is complete…
