A town hall in cyberspace

The grass roots efforts to call attention to the development on the former Northville Psychiatric Hospital site is really picking up steam.
The group, Citizens for Northville, have scheduled their first town hall meeting on the issue. Scheduled for March 6, it will take place at the Highland Lakes clubhouse, which is on Silver Springs Dr. between Seven and Eight Mile roads.
They have also launched a web site that has a collection of press clippings and a few topics set up to start an online discussion. I hope they don’t run into the same problem we did here when we started ours—which is multiple people signing in under several different screen names. These kinds of forums can have value, as long as nobody abuses them.
For my part, I like the link to the Frequently Asked Questions and the one that asks if township officials are for or against the development.
They are, of course, for development on the site. They just want the right kind. They’re trying to do the right for the community in the short term and the long term. They’re just trying to do their job, and if you don’t like it, sue ‘em!
Oh, wait, the developer has already done that….
