Hindu Temple wins approval

The approval for the expansion of the Hindu Temple in Canton Township didn’t go quite as smoothly—or as quickly—as some had predicted.
The township planning commission signed off on the plan—many of them reluctantly—after about two hours worth of discussion that centered on the many extras proposed by attorney Bryan Amann.
“This is one of those situations where someone’s going to feel a little bit hurt if we approve this,” said Commissioner Greg Greene, who chaired the meeting last night.
In the end, the planners could not block the expansion because the plan meets or exceeds all township ordinances. Amann said he hopes to have the plan in front of the board of trustees on March 11.
