Another election announcement

Another seat has opened up on the Canton Township Board of Trustees.
Melissa McLaughlin, a trustee since 1992, announced today that she would seek the office of treasurer rather than re-election to her ‘part time’ trustee post.
She said she wanted to provide some stability given the other changes that will happen in November. Canton Supervisor Tom Yack has decided not to seek election and trustee Todd LaJoy is running for state representative.
“There are changes coming,” she said. “Having a group of work well together and have a lot of experience will help move the community forward.”
I put ‘part time’ in quotes because McLaughlin is so active in the community. In addition to her role as a township trustee, she serves on the township planning commission (since 1991), the Canton Historical Commission and as chair of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) board.
