Big meeting week

It’s not too often I can say this, but there’s actually some pretty important municipal meetings throughout western Wayne county this week.
In Canton Township tonight, the planning commission will look at a new proposal from Oakwood Hospital for a medical campus off Beck Road just north of Michigan Avenue. The first proposal drew plenty of concern from nearby residents and was ultimately rejected. The meeting starts at 7 p.m.
Tomorrow night, the Canton Township Board of Trustees will look at the proposed Hindu Temple expansion on Cherry Hill and Canton Center roads. This item has been controversial enough to spark a lawsuit and cause the resignation of one of the planning commissioners. The Canton meeting starts at 7 p.m.
The City of Wayne will host its first budget study session beginning at 6 p.m. Tomorrow. It promises to be another thin year here in Wayne, for reasons I’ll get into later this week.
And finally, in Northville Township on Thursday, the board of trustees will look at compensation levels for elected officials. The board decides that early in each election year to give those interested in running for office an idea of what they’ll make if they’re successful. That meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
