More sticker shock

I had a rude awakening when I took a quick beer run this afternoon.
I stopped at the Mayflower Party Store on Main Street in Plymouth, as usual, where I had been able to buy my favorite brand at a good price.
Surprise. Since my last purchase—maybe two weeks ago—the price had gone up $3, or about 25 percent. They said there that the price of hops have gone up, so we’ll all see an increase in the price of beer, too.
Well, out of all the punches we’ve had to endure in this stagnant economy, this one is below the belt. Is nothing sacred? Pretty soon there will be no relaxation left for us at a time when most of us need it the most….
