Fresh off a trip to band camp, the Wayne Memorial Marching Band will put on a free concert on Sunday.
They return to town the same day and will offer a sneak peak into their new routine when they give a free show at 5 p.m. on Sunday at Wayne Memorial High School, said band booster and publicity director Bonnie Good.
The band this year consists of about 70 students—one of the largest yet—and the music is a tribute to New Orleans.
“It promises to have a lot of rhythm, be a lot of fun,” said Good. “They’re excited about how it’s all coming together.”
The concert is free and Good said she hopes to have a good turnout, since it is Wheelfest weekend, as well.
“We’d like to get a lot of people out in the stands,” she said. “We want to show the kids that all their effort is worth something.”
