Return of a couple of class acts

David Fichter (front) and Joshua Winer are back in the City of Wayne to complete the Wayne History Mural on the side of the State Wayne Theater.

I’m not the only one who thought Tuesday morning was a perfect one for painting.

David Fichter and Joshua Winer, the two muralists working the Wayne History Mural, are back in town now, finishing up the two-year project.

It was probably just a coincidence that their arrival came at the end of an unusually wet week.

“The mural gods are smiling on us,” joked Fichter.

They’ll be in town for the next few weeks as they fill in the front two panels of the State Wayne Theater on Michigan Avenue and complete the final two. They are always looking for more input, too, on the little flourishes that provide additional depth to the scene.

Anyone with a spare moment or two should stop by; it’s a fascinating process to watch and they are always inviting and interesting to talk to.

I’m not sure why this hasn’t garnered more attention outside the city. To my knowledge there’s nothing like this going on anywhere else. Wouldn’t it be nice to hear some positive news for a change?
