Sorting out the details

The Northville Township Planning Commission will host a special meeting tomorrow night that will help shape the future of the community.
The commission is getting together at 6 p.m. at Township Hall to meet with the township attorney regarding the role of the commission in executing the consent judgment with REIS on the former Northville Psychiatric Hospital property.
What that means is: what they can do and what they can’t do as the development moves forward.
I’m interested in this, too. Given that the development plan was essentially negotiated through attorneys and approved by a judge, what kind of role will the commission and the township board have in the way the development shapes up?
The underlying desires of both sides—the developer to maximize profit and the township officials to protect the community—haven’t changed any.
It will certainly provide some interesting discussion. Much more so than the regular meeting, which starts at 7:30 p.m. and includes a ‘discussion regarding fences.’
There will be brief public comment allowed at both meetings. I expect a lot of public comment at the 6 p.m. meeting. Will it be brief? I kinda doubt it…
