Colorful plants and fresh baked goods are just some of the things available at the Wayne Farmer's Market.
It’d be hard to call the Farmer’s Market in Wayne anything but an overwhelming success.
The market kicked off yesterday and will take place from 3-7 p.m. every Wednesday afternoon until October. Every time I drove by, the parking lot at the State Wayne Theater on Michigan Avenue was packed with people checking out the wares, which ranged from plants to baked goods to hand-crafted jewelry and more.
It was also good to see the city get some publicity out of it; the three major network news channels were there off and on throughout the day, broadcasting live.
This is something that has long been discussed in the city. The Wayne 20/20 Committee has been pushing it for the last couple of year, and finally got the budget approved last year. City Planner Matt Miller has been one of the big forces behind it.
Good job to everyone.
