Changes in store for the Wayne PD

The Wayne Police department is at the cusp of change.
Like others in the city, the department is facing a loss in institutional knowledge because of several retirements that were caused in part by a tight budget.
When the new fiscal year starts, there will be six new command officers. I’ll try to make sense of all that in the paper this week, but I can tell you right now that this will be a smooth transition. The department will probably handle the upcoming lean years better than any other in the city because of the high quality people that work there already.
That’s the sign of a well-run department: that when the time comes for promotions, there are so many good people to chose from the hardest decision to make is who gets the extra stripes.
