Downtown Wayne Goes 3D

Downtown Wayne as seen in Google Earth

Created by Luna Tech Designs, Wayne is the first downtown community to have it’s own interactive community portal based on the Google Earth interface. You can visit the virtual globe directly at www.3dwayne.com.

You can now view of all the Wayne Community Chamber members, locate city parks, view the trash collection schedule for the city, view historic photos of the downtown area – all from your home computer.

Business owners can join the community globe and have their buildings modeled out in 3D for a very modest fee. Once their building is modeled out in 3D, it will be available on the 3DWayne.com portal, Google Earth, Google Maps and a variety of other community portal applications being developed by Luna Tech Designs

Luna Tech Designs is currently working with DDAs, Chambers, Cities and Counties throughout the Metro Detroit area to develop 3D Community Portals or “LunaGlobes” to help people navigate and explore their world in 3D. A few of the communities in development include: Plymouth, Northville, Garden City, Dearborn Heights, Sterling Heights, Ferndale, Rochester, Rochester Hills and several others.

To learn more about how to join the 3D Wayne Community or any of our other communities, contact us at lunatech3d@gmail.com or by phone at 734-260-1069.

ByeWayne:

I wonder how much this great stint cost the taxpayers. Is this another sad attempt that will make business locate to the city? Like that mural that worked so well in having businesses locate. That church in the former Club Extreme brings adds to the tax base…. not!

This city has the worst budgeting ever. Council needs to be thrown out, along with Zech. Think of the union busting and job loss to many of the workers of the DPW for crap like this. So glad I left Wayne when I did…

Something to keep in mind. Even as a former resident, you are still interested in knowing what is going on in Wayne. That is exactly the purpose of these globes – to show people what is going on in their community – the good, the bad, and yes, even the ugly. FYI, this globe is a private venture and is not funded or maintained by the city.

I think it’s pretty cool. The residential market place has been using online imagery for years to promote their listings because people are visual. This is an excellent way to promote the downtown and give people a clear understanding of the space. Plus, its fun to use. I wish more cities would do it.

Wayne must be a GREAT place to live. I’ve noticed via the online obituary, that no one has died since August 2006….
